# Introduction

Riot Racers is a crypto car racing game where players own parts of the game.

![](/files/-M_xmSjN6YJEXj9RPYXb)

Riot Racers is a crypto car racing game where players own parts of the game. Players can earn rewards by playing the game or by owning NFTs in the game. The official in-game currency is the RIOT token.

Players can **earn** RIOT tokens when winning races, by owning certain game assets like Gas Stations or Mechanic Shops, and by enrolling in the [Riot Owner's Club](/riot-owners-club). The amount of RIOT that can be earned from **racing** depends on the class of that car being raced. Cars exist in seven different [classes](/cars/car-classes), from Rookie to Legendary; and the higher the class, the higher the amount of RIOT tokens that can be earned.

RIOT tokens can be **spent** throughout the game to enter races, spawn (i.e. breed) new Cars and Drivers, upgrade Cars, buy game assets in drops, and other activities associated with the game.

When entering a race, players are presented with the Race Conditions like weather and track conditions. Players select a Car and Driver to race with, and then select from several options that make up their Race Strategy. The race then happens in the background. Results of the race are determined 20% by the Driver, 29% by the Car, and 51% by how well each racer's Race Strategy plays out. Cars with higher XP and upgrades have an advantage in the race.

Ownable parts of the game include: [Drivers](/drivers/drivers), [Cars](/cars/cars), [Car Upgrades](/cars/car-upgrades), [Gas Stations](/ownable-game-assets/gas-stations), [Mechanic Shops](/ownable-game-assets/mechanics), [Racetrack Land](/ownable-game-assets/land-race-tracks) and [Billboard Land](/ownable-game-assets/land-billboards).

# Game Play

To play Riot Racers, you'll first select a [Car](/cars/cars) and a [Driver](/drivers/drivers) from your collection. If you do not own a Car or Driver, you can rent one in the [Rental Marketplace](https://riotracers.com/rent).

Choose a Competition Race or practice your skills in Racing School races. You will be presented with the Race Conditions (weather, track, and pit), and based on those conditions, you choose a Driver and Car. Next you will pick your Racing Strategy by selecting options in five different categories: Race Posture, Racing Line, Braking Technique, Engine Strategy, and Acceleration Strategy.

The race then runs in the background, but what determines who wins? Race results are determined 20% by the Driver, 29% by the Car, and 51% by how well each racer's Race Strategy plays out. Cars with higher XP and upgrades have an advantage in the race as well. Driver types (Earth, Wind, Fire and Water) and skill trait levels determine how well they perform in different Racing Conditions.

# Car & Driver Rentals

Rentals provide an easy opportunity for players to get started playing Riot Racers, without having to first acquire their own game assets. The renting of game assets also allows Car and Driver owners the ability to earn RIOT, without needing to enter races themselves. Renting assets, and earning from rentals, is a seamless and trustless experience. It's easy for anyone to rent in Riot Racers, with all earnings automatically distributed to both owner and renter.

### Rental Marketplace

#### Overview

All users in the game will be able to participate in the Rental system in one of two ways: as a renter or an owner.

**Owners** of Cars and Drivers can list their game assets for rent in the Rental Marketplace. The marketplace provides the opportunity for **renters** wanting to participate in racing but are currently in need of a Car, Driver, or both. All listed assets in the rental marketplace are **free** to rent in exchange for a percentage share of the race winnings. This means that anyone can get started playing **without** needing any money to begin!

### How to Rent

**For Renters**

1. Step one is to make sure you have an account created at [riotracers.com](https://riotracers.com/)
2. Next, head over to the Rental Marketplace and select a Car and/or Driver that works for you
3. Each asset will display a **'% to you'** which is the amount of race winnings that you will be able to keep
4. Rental periods are **indefinite**, but the asset owner can take their Car or Driver back at any time
5. There is a maximum of **10 Cars** and **10 Drivers** that can be rented at one time per player

**For Owners**

1. Once logged into your account on the Riot Racers website, head over to your Garage or Drivers page
2. Here you will find a button **'Put for Rent'** under each of your assets
3. Once you have selected the option to rent, you will be able to choose the % of race winnings to keep
4. Click 'Submit' and your asset will now show in the rental marketplace
5. Assets can be rented out to **specific** users, if chosen
6. There are **no limits** to the amount of assets that can be rented out, and you can choose to take back an asset at any time for any reason

### Reward Share

All game assets listed for rent in the rental marketplace will operate on a **reward share** system. This means that all rentals are **free of charge** to the renter, but in exchange they only keep the % of race winnings that were advertised with the rental. At the end of each race, all prizes won will be automatically divided up and credited to both the renter and owners in game wallet.

For example if a Car or Driver is rented with '10% to you' this means that the renter will keep 10% of all race winnings and the owner of the asset will keep 90%.

**Note**: The winnings from each race will first be split evenly between the Car and the Driver before automatically being credited to each owner/renter's in-game wallet.

### Renter Safety

We have put two important features in place to ensure fairness and renter safety: **trustless rentals** and **trustless earnings**. When a player rents a Car or Driver, the system allocates that asset to the renter, and the only thing they can do with those assets is use them in the game to race. At the end of each race, winnings are automatically divided up and credited to each users in-game wallet. The renter never needs to worry if they are being given the fair amount of RIOT tokens.

# RIOT Game Token

RIOT is an ERC-20 token, used as a native game currency and governance token that powers Riot Racers and upcoming games *Riot Rampage*, *Riot Rush* and the Riot Metaverse. It allows players to earn rewards in games, buy game assets, pay for actions in the games, claim rewards, and participate in governance.

![](/files/pkWUgchbbYWUZHB0haHM)

### **The RIOT Economy**

**Only 250,000,000 $RIOT tokens will be minted.**

| Allocation Type | % | Amount |
| --------------------------- | --- | ----------: |
| Play to Earn / Game Rewards | 45% | 112,500,000 |
| Reserve | 25% | 62,500,000 |
| Team | 20% | 50,000,000 |
| Operations | 5% | 12,500,000 |
| Player Incentives | 5% | 12,500,000 |

### Token Economics

The RIOT token is designed and intended to be a utility governance token. It is solely intended to be the currency inside the Riot Metaverse and games. The token is not an investment and no amount of the token supply was sold to investors or for investment purposes, as seen above in the allocation table. RIOT is a fungible ERC-20 token and was created by deploying a widely used standard smart contract on the Ethereum blockchain. To be used, RIOT must be deposited from the Polygon network, or the Ethereum Mainnet Network, in to the in game wallet via the riotracers.com app. The in game wallet is used to pay for all actions within the game, and allows for RIOT token withdraws out to the Polygon network. Polygon, a second layer Ethereum chain, is in common and increasingly high use by blockchain games and DeFi projects.

#### Token Flow

The RIOT token is designed to flow in and out of the Riot Metaverse and games and the community. Players buy the token in order to make purchases in the Metaverse and play in the games. Purchases can include game assets (like cars and land), and upgrades. Players also win the token as rewards when they win races in races or prizes in the other games.

The RIOT token economy is regularly monitored and analyzed. Prices in RIOT for game activities, including breeding (spawning), are regularly reviewed and adjusted if needed. A stable token price, as much as is possible, promotes a healthy economy and is beneficial to the community. The game operators issue a RIOT token economic report from time to time.

Special attention was made to ensure the token had as much balance as possible between the in-flow and out-flow. The desired outcome here is that there is not more demand to buy the token than to sell it, or vice versa.

The ecosystem was designed to have demand to purchase the token in order for players to breed (spawn), enter paid races, buy game assets and upgrades. Breeding fees and play to earn rewards can be increased or decreased to better balance buy and sell pressure of the token.

Other incentives were designed to encourage players to hold the token and not sell. The first is an upcoming staking program that rewards players with more tokens for holding tokens for at least week long periods. The second is the Council of Racers, a DAO like system that allows holders of the token to influence decisions made about the game. This allows players to have a say in the future of the game and how it operates. The larger the amount of tokens held, the larger amount of influence the player has, as one token equals one vote.

The goal is for the game operators to take an active role in adjusting elements in the game economy to keep the token as stable as possible for the players.

# Riot Owners Club

The Riot Owners Club (ROC) is the "frequent flyer" rewards program for Riot Racers. The Riot Owners Club is intended to incentivize players to hold game assets and RIOT tokens, and reward owners of early game assets. Players will need to log into the game each day and actively claim their rewards. Unclaimed rewards are lost forever.

**NOTE**: You must claim your RIOT Token rewards every day or you will lose them. Daily rewards claiming encourages racers to log in to the app and play the game.

# Cars

Cars form the core asset of the game with Drivers, as they are required to play the game. Players can buy cars from the verified Riot Racers Car Collection on [OpenSea](https://opensea.io/collection/riot-racers-cars) or during Riot Racers Drops.

From time to time new cars are released for the game. The first set of cars released was the **Genesis** Collection, consisting of 3,333 cars. The second set of cars was the **Apollo** Collection, which consists of 7,777 cars. A third collection, called **Athena**, was also created which consists of very limited edition cars only available as prizes. There are also temporary tier-two **Artemis** cars available that can be created through [spawning](/drivers/spawning-and-stamina).

| Collection | Asset Tier | Released |
| ---------- | ---------- | -------- |
| Genesis | Tier One | Q2 2021 |
| Apollo | Tier One | Q1 2022 |
| Athena | Tier One | Q3 2022 |
| Artemis | Tier Two | Q2 2022 |

### Car Value

Cars have value from two perspectives: rarity and in game attributes. Rarity is derived from the model and color of the car, its position and number in the release, and the collection it is in. In game attributes consist of Car Class, Car XP, and [Car Upgrades](/cars/car-upgrades).

Cars can be bought and sold, and when they are sold, any upgrades that were purchased are also sold with the car.

# Car Classes & XP

### Experience Points (XP)

A Car's Class is determined by the amount of Experience Points (XP) it has. Rookie Cars start with zero XP, and higher Factory Classes have more XP (see the table below). Cars gain additional XP from completing races, usually 0.05 XP per race. If a car does not finish a race (due to tire or engine problems, or crashing), it will not gain XP from that race. When a car is sold, XP and upgrades stay with the car.

### Car Classes

Cars join races based on Car Class, which is determined by XP. Only certain classes of cars can race on certain [Racetracks](/ownable-game-assets/land-race-tracks). Current Class = Car Class.

| Car Class Level | Class Abbreviation | XP Point Range |
| --------------- | ------------------ | -------------- |
| **Rookie** | O | 0-99 XP |
| **Rally** | R | 100-199 XP |
| **Driver** | D | 200-399 XP |
| **Tracker** | T | 400-599 XP |
| **Aero** | A | 600-799 XP |
| **Pro** | P | 800-999 XP |
| **Legendary** | L | 1000+ XP |

### Factory Class & Current Class

The class in which a car begins is called the **Factory Class,** while the class it is currently in is called the **Current Class**. Factory Class is also abbreviated "FC".

Every car contains both of these fields, and when it is first minted the fields will be identical. As the car gains [XP](/cars/car-classes#experience-points-xp), it will move up in classes and that will be reflected by the **Current Class**. It is possible to race a FC Rookie Car all the way up to a Legendary Current Class by earning XP. For the average user who races regularly, this would take about a year to accomplish.

In order to protect the value of higher class cars (from lower class cars gaining XP too quickly), this distinction between **FC** and **CC** was made. While the **Current Class** determines which Racetracks the car can race on, the **Factory Class** is used for benefits and perks.

**For example:**

A car with a Factory Class of **Rookie** and a Current Class of **Aero.**

* Can race on **Ho-Pin Tung Circuit** (Rank 3) and **Petrov Raceway** (Rank 4), based on Current Class (see [Racetracks](/ownable-game-assets/land-race-tracks))
* Can only claim **Rookie** perks (ex. cannot claim Loot Box drops for Factory Class **Aero**) based on its Factory Class

Even though a Factory Class **Rookie** can rise in classes by gaining XP, and one day become a Current Class **Legendary**, it will not inherit the benefits & perks of a Factory Class **Legendary** car.

# Car Upgrades

Cars are valued by their [class](/game-play#car-classes) and by their rating; and players can level up their car's rating with upgrades. A car's rating is made up of the sum of all of its upgrades. Each car has a beginning rating of 100 and a maximum rating of 24,000. Fully upgraded cars are referred to as "24K Rated" cars.

The baseline rating for all cars is 100, since all cars start off with Engine and Brakes Level 0. A higher car rating will give you an improved likelihood of winning. However, having the most upgraded car does not mean you will win every race, since the primary outcome of the race is the result of choosing the best Racing Strategy.

### Purchasing Upgrades

Players can purchase upgrades for their cars by visiting the **Mechanic Shop** section from the **My Account** menu. From there, players can select which of their cars they want to upgrade and then select which upgrade they want to add. Upgrades are bought with RIOT and USDC, with some of the first upgrade levels purchasable in all RIOT.

Upgrades must be purchased in order. For example, you will only be able to buy the Engine Level 4 upgrade after first purchasing the Engine Levels 1, 2, and 3 upgrades. Some upgrades will require a car to have gained a certain number of Experience Points (XP) before they can be purchased. XP is earned by racing, and the Earned XP requirements shown in the below tables are for **earned** **XP** **above the default Factory Class XP for that car**. \[Note: XP requirements for upgrades will not be in the first release, but will be added in later.]

# Car Colors and Groups

Colors play a significant role in Riot Racers, even though they do not affect the racing outcome. Just like in real life, cars coming out from the factory (drop) are equipped with a **Stock Color** that depends on the [**Factory Car Class**](/cars/car-classes#factory-class-and-current-class).

For instance, a “Moonshot” **Rookie (**[**Factory Class**](/cars/car-classes#factory-class-and-current-class) **1, or FC 1)** will have a color from the **Stock Color Group (SCG)** **1**, while a “Moonshot” **Legendary (FC 7)** will use a color from the **SCG** **7**. You will never see a “Moonshot” (**FC 5)** having a color from the **SCG** **1 -** except when it has been **repainted**.

**Stock Colors will be filled in the chart below as drops happen and cars are minted.**

| Car Class Abbreviation | Factory Class | Factory Class Code | Stock Color Group | Stock Color |
| ---------------------- | ------------- | ------------------ | ----------------- | ----------------- |
| O | Rookie | FC1 | SCG1 | SC001, SC002, ... |
| R | Rally | FC2 | SCG2 | - |
| D | Driver | FC3 | SCG3 | - |
| T | Tracker | FC4 | SCG4 | - |
| A | Aero | FC5 | SCG5 | - |
| P | Pro | FC6 | SCG6 | - |
| L | Legendary | FC7 | SCG7 | - |

Each **SCG** is different and contains a variety of different colors as well as different paint **processes**, **finishes** and more. Just like in real life, entry level paint has significant differences from high end paint.

Example:

![](/files/-MccejNoM98hoCqrGAvn)

As you can see both colors are blue, but the one on the right (FC Class **4**) has a "better" or simply more "premium" looking finish compared to the one on the left (FC Class **1**). Of course, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

{% hint style="info" %}
A more detailed graphical update to the white-paper with examples will be published soon. Colors will be **gradually introduced** with each drop and the color palette will receive regular updates.
{% endhint %}

As of this whitepaper update over **129 colors** (including the same color in different finishes) are ready to use for coming drops, but **will be extended to more** with time.

While your car will gain [XP](/cars/car-classes) and change its [class](/cars/car-classes) over time in the game, this won’t affect the car's stock color. Just like in real life, the original stock color will always be part of the car history, even if changed via the **Paint Shop (details of the Paint Shops have not been released)**.

As the game progresses over time, some buyers will look for cars that have preserved their original stock color, while others will prefer to do their own custom color in a **Paint Shop**.

In a future update of this section, we will introduce vinyl decals (non-destructive to preserve your original color), patterns (destructive) and full color changes (destructive). Non-destructive means that removing it will not damage the paint job. Destructive means that is replaces the previous paint job.

# Car Rarity Resources

![](/files/wYRcRjDTnnMaBQt4D6vX)

Riot Racers cars have a **variable rarity** as opposed to a fixed rarity. Your actions in the game, such as upgrades, color changes, XP advance and other factors will influence the rarity value of your car. This **rarity value** will be available once the game officially starts and will change automatically depending on your actions.

We are however able to calculate a **First Drop Rarity** value based on fixed numbers in each series, as each series contains **3,333** cars spread over **25** car models. As each car model contains **7** [**Factory Classes**](/cars/car-classes#factory-class-and-current-class) we can also include that calculation into the FDR.

After the drop is completed we can also include the **Car Color** into the formula, however since colors are being announced at each drop separately, this calculation has to wait until the whole Collection has been published.

{% hint style="info" %}

## First Drop Rarity

In order to go one step further and view the absolute **FDR** calculation please download the following PDF, which has also some additional information and calculations for people looking for rarity.

{% file src="/files/-MkCjAWS4UUzl9dlQOkH" %}

{% hint style="info" %}
When calculating rarity on your own, please keep the following in mind:
{% endhint %}

1. Rarity in the CMR and FDR calculation **does not** take into account XP Level and Points, as those values fluctuate. It also does not include future car color changes, car owners, and other **variable** car specific conditions. Such a calculation (**AFR** - Absolute Fluctuating Rarity) will be available in-game.
2. Once the Genesis series has been published completely the FDR list will be replaced with a FDR+C list which will take into account the specific color finish of your car.
3. The information on this page is not financial advice - buying certain assets based on rarity, especially if fluctuating, bears potential financial risks.

**This list is being updated regularly with color information and dropped/remaining values.**

# Drivers

Drivers are how Cars are driven in the Riot Racers game, and they are also usable characters in the larger Riot Metaverse. Drivers are ranked by winning percentage, earnings, and races completed.

### Racing with Drivers

Drivers add a dynamic element to racing within Riot Racers, impacting 20% of the outcome of the race. The rest of the race outcome is determined by other factors, like car upgrades and the player's racing strategies.

To enter a race, players will select a Driver and a Car. Driver types and their traits impact the outcome of the race, depending on the race conditions. For example, if the weather and track conditions are rainy and wet, a Water\* type of Driver will perform the best. *(\*see Driver Traits section below)*

### Driver Traits

Drivers come in three forms: **male**, **female**, and **mecha**. Within those forms, Drivers have a wide variety of visual characteristics, like facial expressions, hair, hats, clothing, and more. All of these attributes contribute to the rarity of each Driver.

There are four different types of Drivers: **Earth**, **Wind**, **Fire**, and **Water**. Each type of Driver will be better suited for specific race conditions, in addition to having visual characteristics relating to their type. With regards to rarity by Driver type, the most to least rare are ordered as follows: 1) Fire, 2) Wind, 3) Water, and 4) Earth.

Each Driver has varying levels of the following traits: **Speed**, **Braking**, **Handling**, **Endurance**, and **Vision**. The value range for each trait is between 50 and 100, with higher values of specific traits giving those Drivers an advantage—especially in certain race conditions. Each driver has been randomly assigned their trait values, along with their Driver type and other characteristics.

### Genesis Drivers Collection

* There are 11,111 Drivers in the Genesis Drivers Collection
* **Genesis Drivers #1 to #3,333** - As a reward to Genesis Car owners, they will receive one FREE Driver for every Genesis Car they own, corresponding to the same Car # they own. This is a one-for-one allocation: if a player owns 5 Cars, they will get 5 Drivers, without limit.
* **Genesis Drivers #3,334 to #11,111** - Will be released in a dedicated Genesis Drivers Drop, happening on December 2, 2021.
* This first collection of Drivers may have some crossover capabilities in the other games planned for the Riot Metaverse (to be revealed later).
* Genesis Drivers are available on [OpenSea](https://opensea.io/collection/riot-racers-drivers)

# Spawning & Stamina

Breeding, known in the game as **spawning**, is the creation of new Riot Racer game assets. Cars and Drivers can spawn offspring, all of which are part of the **Artemis Collection**. Spawned NFTs in the Artemis Collection have the same look and feel as their Genesis and Apollo (early/original game assets) counterparts but will be limited in traits and characteristics.

Spawning can take place during certain "breeding seasons," when new assets are able to be created. The first breeding season started April 27, 2022 and ended September 13, 2022. The next breeding season will likely start in Q2 of 2023.

### How to Spawn

Spawning is easy to do on our website: [riotracers.com](https://riotracers.com/)

1. During an open breeding season, navigate to the "Breeding" menu item on the left menu bar
2. Choose your owned game asset (Car or Driver) for spawning
3. Select a partner game asset (Car or Driver) to spawn with
4. Alternatively - for the second asset you can use the game owned Milk Truck or Queen B.

Spawning will require two game assets to produce an offspring. Driver spawning will require one Female Driver and one Male Driver, or two Mechas. Car spawning will require two Cars, of any class or collection. Car offspring will be the lower of the two car classes used, or the one car class used if it is paired with the Milk Truck. Driver offspring will be random, or a Mecha if the paired drivers are Mechas.

If asset owners do not have the necessary two game assets to spawn, they can still spawn with only **one game asset** using an optional method provided by Riot Racers: the "**Milk Truck"** for Cars or the **"Queen B"** for Drivers. Both of these options will temporarily give users the second game asset for spawning that they are missing. Use of the Milk Truck or Queen B will require an additional fee.

### Spawning Pricing Table

Spawning prices are the **same** no matter how many **times** a Car/Driver is bred. Each spawn, from the first to the last, will be the same price based on the rates shown in tables below.

The cost to use the **Milk Truck** or the **Queen B** is the cost below **plus** 1,000 RIOT + 35 USDT.

**CARS**

![The spawn cost for cars, $RIOT + $USDT.](/files/GSn7uCG70p2DA7Y8ND34)

#### DRIVERS

![](/files/ctqDkLIpGCWXs44F13nJ)

### Spawning Limits

The **Artemis** **Collection** of Car and Driver game assets will always have a **maximum of 7 spawns**. Artemis is the collection of Cars and Drivers for all bred assets.

**Genesis and Apollo** **Collections** of Cars and Drivers will have an **initial** maximum of 7 breeds. Genesis breed counts will reset (back to zero) within 3 months of breeding starting, and Apollo will reset within 6 months. We will continue to reset the breed count for Genesis and Apollo assets in the future.

### Offspring

**Drivers**

Each new Driver will be part of the Artemis collection and will be spawned randomly as a Male, Female, or Mecha (if spawned with 2 Mechas). Similar to Genesis Drivers, the Artemis Drivers will have a total skill rating. More details on Artemis Drivers individual skill levels [below](#driver-skill-traits).

#### Cars

Each new Artemis car will be randomly chosen from a handful of model design types. Artemis Car colors will be specific to their spawned class. These Cars will not be able to earn XP points like Genesis and Apollo Cars, and will be fixed in their spawned car[ class](/cars/car-classes#experience-points-xp).

### Class | Type | Skills

All spawned game assets will be part of the Artemis collection. Car and Driver classes, types, and skills will be assigned in a unique way, as outlined below.

#### Car Classes

* The offspring from combining two Cars will **always equal the lower of the two Car classes**.
  * Example: 1 Legendary + 1 Aero = 1 Aero
* The offspring of combining one Car with the Milk Truck will **always equal the Car's class**.
  * Example: 1 Legendary + 1 Milk Truck = 1 Legendary

#### Drivers Types

The type of driver offspring will be **randomly selected** based on the Genesis collection distribution. The only exception to this is, if you spawn two Mechas together, you will create a **Mecha**.

* The offspring of 1 Mecha + 1 Mecha = 1 Mecha
* The offspring of any other combination of Drivers, including the Queen B, will be randomly assigned following the distribution outlined in the table below:

![](/files/hiupz1aiU4BOJJsSZfBm)

#### Driver Skill Traits

Spawned Driver skill ratings will be randomly selected between the same minimum (323) and maximum (433) total ratings as the Genesis collection. However, the total rating will be evenly split amongst the five skill categories: Braking, Endurance, Handling, Speed, & Vision.

As an example, if a Driver were randomly assigned a total rating of 400, then each of the 5 skill traits would be assigned an 80.

$$
Individual Skill Trait = 400(total rating) / 5(number of individual skill traits)
$$

Asset owners will have the choice to **'reroll'** if they are not happy with their randomly generated total rating. This will give the owner another chance to spawn a higher total rating. Re-rolling can occur up to 3 times per spawn and each reroll will be more expensive than the previous roll. All re-rolls will be a fixed price charged in RIOT tokens.

### Stamina

Every Car and Driver in the game will have a stamina value assigned to them. The stamina number represents the amount of times that game asset can participate in Racing School races in a 24-hour period. Each race entered will utilize 1 stamina, and when a game asset is at 0 remaining stamina, they can not participate in Racing School races until they recover stamina.

Cars and Drivers will regenerate stamina each hour, which will range from 1 to 1.5 stamina/hour, depending on the collection to which the Car or Driver belongs.

#### Car and Driver Stamina

![](/files/l03LHhhOEe93lkxRL0eN)

### Cooldown Periods

Cooldown periods will be triggered every time a new game asset is spawned. Both the parent and the newly spawned offspring will have a cooldown period that varies in duration based on their collection. These cooldown periods will limit both spawning and racing activities. See the tables below for the cooldown periods by collection.

**Cooldowns for Cars**

![](/files/hyVnF0ntVJyXBNnZi3sr)

**Cooldowns for Drivers**

![](/files/S3xL0nn9mg5undg3sHrJ)

### Time to Retire (TTR)

The first Artemis series game assets have an initial time to retire of nine months. The TTR is subject to change, but once an asset has a set TTR, it will not be changed for that game asset. Any future changes in TTR periods will only affect newly spawned assets.

Once an asset has retired, the Car or Driver will not be able to participate in racing or breeding, and any stamina or breeds it had left will be lost. Retired cars and drivers will not count toward Achievement Levels or Riot Owners Clubs totals. The idea behind TTR is to protect against market oversupply and maintain stability in the Riot Racers ecosystem, which ultimately benefits everyone.

To make the **Time to Retire** for Artemis assets easy to understand for everyone and provide more value to players, the Artemis assets spawned in 2022 will be provided additional days of playability and their retirement date moved back to one of three standardized dates:

* **March 15**, 2023 (all assets that were due to retire up to March 8)

# Gas Stations

Gas functions as the entrance fee for races. To enter a race, racers first stop at a Gas Station and buy fuel. Racers buy a number of gallons (GAL) of fuel and then enter races that consume a specified amount of GAL per race. Races will range between free and up to $100.

There are **only 20 Gas Stations** in the Genesis Collection of game assets. Additional Gas Stations will not be released until at least 25,000 cars have been sold.

### Benefits of Owning a Gas Station

* You will own the rarest asset in the game.
* Earn RIOT tokens - Anticipated RRS (RIOT Reward Share) is 100% depending on purchase date. See below.
* Customize the name of your Gas Station.
* Your Gas Station is forward compatible. This means that you will benefit from racing entry fees of all cars from the Genesis Collection release and future collections!

**Gas Station owners can anticipate earning the equivalent amount of RIOT tokens in the first year to the amount the first buyer paid to purchase the Gas Station at drop, based on a purchase price of 3.3 ETH and a ETH price of $2,500.** All Genesis Collection Gas Station rewards, no matter when or for how much they were purchased, will be earned in this manner.

If you purchased a Gas Station for **less** than 3.3 ETH, your reward is expected to be **greater** than what is described above. If you purchased for **more** than 3.3 ETH, your reward in the first year is expected to be **less** than what is described above in the first year.

| Drop # | Drop Date | Drop Price | Quantity | Anticipated 1st Year RRS % |
| ----------- | ------------------------ | ---------- | -------- | -------------------------- |
| 1 | June 2, 2021 | 2.2 ETH | 3 | 160% |
| 2+Whitelist | June/July 2021 | 3.3 ETH | 8 | 100% |
| 3 | August 26, 2021 | 4.4 ETH | 3 | 70% |
| 4 | September 15, 2021 | 5.5 ETH | 3 | 50% |
| 5 | Auction: October 5, 2021 | 6.6 ETH | 3 | 36% |

**Claiming Land Rewards:** To start claiming rewards from your Gas Station, you first need to create an account on riotracers.com using the same wallet address that contains your game assets. Your rewards will not start to accumulate until you have created an account.

**Selling/Transferring Land Assets:** Earned rewards that have not been claimed do not transfer when Gas Stations are sold or transferred. Rewards are reset to zero upon transferring of assets.

**Notes:** RIOT tokens will be earned by Gas Station owners indefinitely based on racing entrant fees. Your Gas Station will be forward compatible, meaning your RRS will be calculated using ALL racing entry fees from your release collection and forward. For example, Genesis collection Gas Stations will provide gas for all cars in the game, whereas Gas Stations purchased in future collections will provide gas to their specific collection and forward. The anticipated reward beyond the first year will be determined using the same mechanics used to establish year one rewards but will be adjusted for racing volume. This means with more racing your anticipated RRS could be higher and with less racing lower.

# Mechanic Shops

Racers must bring their cars to a Mechanic Shop to buy and install [upgrades](/cars/car-upgrades). Mechanic Shops earn a portion of the upgrades purchased at their Shop. Total proceeds from upgrades purchased at all Mechanic Shops will be pooled together and distributed evenly to all shop owners!

There are **only 75 Mechanic Shops** in the Genesis Collection of game assets. Additional Mechanic Shops will not be released until at least 25,000 cars have been sold.

### Benefits of Owning a Mechanic Shop

* Get a 15% discount on all upgrades for your cars.
* Earn RIOT tokens - Anticipated RRS (RIOT Reward Share) is 50% depending on purchase date. See below.
* Customize the name of your Mechanic Shop.
* Your Mechanic Shop is forward compatible. This means that you will benefit from upgrades of all cars from your Mechanic Shop's collection (e.g. Genesis collection) and future collections!

**Mechanic Shop owners can anticipate earning RIOT tokens in the first year equivalent to about half of the amount that the first purchaser paid at drop, based on a purchase price of 0.7 ETH and a ETH price of $2,500.** All Genesis Collection Mechanic Shop rewards, no matter when or for how much they were purchased, will be earned in this manner.

| Drop # | Drop Date | Drop Price | Quantity | Anticipated 1st Year RRS % |
| ------ | ------------------ | ---------- | -------- | -------------------------- |
| 3 | August 26, 2021 | 0.7 ETH | 18 | 50% |
| 4 | September 15, 2021 | 0.8 ETH | 28 | 40% |
| 5 | October 7, 2021 | 0.9 ETH | 29 | 33% |

**Claiming Land Rewards:** To start claiming rewards from your Mechanic Shop, you first need to create an account on riotracers.com using the same wallet address that contains your game assets. Your rewards will not start to accumulate until you have created an account.

**Selling/Transferring Land Assets:** Earned rewards that have not been claimed do not transfer when Mechanic Shops are sold or transferred. Rewards are reset to zero upon transferring of assets.

**Notes**: RIOT tokens will be earned by Mechanic Shop owners indefinitely based on car upgrade fees. Your Mechanic Shop will be forward compatible, meaning your RRS will be calculated using ALL car upgrade fees from your Mechanic Shop's release collection and forward. For example, Genesis collection Mechanic Shops will provide upgrades for all cars in the game, whereas Mechanic Shops purchased in future collections will provide upgrades to their specific collection and forward. The anticipated reward beyond the first year will be determined using the same mechanics used to establish year-one rewards. With more racing, your anticipated RRS could be higher and with less racing lower.

# Racetrack Land

To start, there will be seven Racetracks in Riot Racers. Cars can race on designated Racetracks based on that Car's racing class. Owner’s of Racetrack Land earn race fees each time a race happens. There are **1,400 land plots across all seven Racetracks, with seven different classes of rarity**. A portion of total race entry fees are allocated to the Racetrack Land owners, based on class and rarity of the Racetrack. All Racetrack owners within the same class and rarity will earn the same amount.

### Benefits of Owning Racetrack Land

* Earn RIOT tokens.
* For every 3 plots of Genesis Racetrack Land you buy, you will get 1 free plot of EXTRA land in the [RIOT Metaverse](https://news.riotracers.com/riot-the-big-vision-dcedcec928cf) - the higher the class of land you own, the better land you will get in the Metaverse.\* This extra land is in addition to your Racetrack Land that you will already get. This applies to all Genesis classes of land.
* Your Racetrack Land is forward compatible. This means that you will benefit from racing entry fees of all cars from your Racetrack Land's collection (e.g. Genesis collection) and future collections!

Racetrack Land Owners owners can anticipate earning RIOT tokens in the first year **based on the Racetrack Land class equivalent to anywhere from 10-50% of the purchase price paid at drop (0.2 - 0.8 ETH and a ETH price of $2,500).** All Genesis Racetrack Land rewards, no matter when or for how much they were purchased, will be paid out in this manner.

The anticipated reward beyond the first year will be determined using the same mechanics used to establish year-one rewards but will be adjusted for racing volume. This means with more racing your anticipated RRS could be higher and with less racing lower.

*\*The term "metaverse" is used to describe a larger open world component to Riot Racers that encompasses the car racing game along with future games developed by the Riot Racers team. The development and/or implementation of the Riot Metaverse is subject to change based on marketplace demands and evolving development objectives and timelines.*

# Billboard Land

Advertising in car racing is a huge part of the sport. With Riot Racers Billboard Land, you can dynamically place ads directly in the game. Place your own ad, or sell ads to others and place it for them.

Billboard ads are displayed as a banner across the pages of the Riot Racers application so that all players can see your ad. Ads will be visible on the Marketplace side of the application, in addition to the My Account sections, and of course the Race screens. Billboard land owners are able to see basic analytics for their ads from their Riot Racers dashboard as well.

### Benefits of Owning Billboard Land

* You will own the second rarest asset in the game.
* Place your own ads, or rent out the ad space to others.

### **Creating Billboard Advertisements**

Billboard Land owners can create a new advertisement by logging into their account on the [Riot Racers app](https://riotracers.com/) and navigating to the [Assets](https://riotracers.com/dashboard/assets) page. On the Assets page, select the Billboard tab, and then click the "Manage" button to create your new ad.

#### Ad Requirements

Ads consist of images and a URL. The displayed images are clickable and will take users to the site of your choice. To submit an ad, you must have two images ready, one for mobile view and one for desktop view:

* Mobile Image Dimensions: **300**px x **50**px
* Desktop Image Dimensions: **970**px x **90**px

*Important: Images must be the exact dimensions defined above. Any images submitted with incorrect sizing will cause that ad campaign to be rejected.*

**Advertisement URL** - You will also need to provide a URL where users will be taken when clicking on your ad. Sites advertised must be appropriate for all ages.\*

\*No NSFW, lewd, nudity, or illegal items may be advertised. All ads must be inline with Riot Racer's core values. Riot Racers reserves the right to disapprove ads at its sole and absolute own discretion.

#### Ad Approval Process

Once your ad has been submitted through the Riot Racers app, the Riot Racers team will inspect the images and URL provided to make sure the ad is appropriate. If the ad is approved, it will go live on the Riot Racers app immediately after approval.

The approval process can take up to 72 hours, however it often happens much quicker.

If you need an ad approval expedited, or if you have questions or need support regarding one of your submitted Billboard ads, please submit a **Support Ticket** in [Discord](http://discord.gg/riotracers).

**Advertisement Duration** - Approved advertisements will remain active for at least 30 days after they're submitted. After 30 days, the ad will expire and be removed, at which point the Billboard Land owner is able to create and submit a new advertisement for their Billboard.

# Riot Racers Inspiration

![](/files/-Ma-sYix4AjJkC98WAyK)

The Riot Racers game was inspired by the [CryptoWhips OG NFT Collection](https://opensea.io/collection/cryptowhips). To pay homage to the cars that started it all, all CryptoWhips cars in the OG Collection will have a special place and value in the Riot Racers game.

> Meta Khan, the game visionary behind Riot Racers, helped with the creation and launch of the CryptoWhips. But after a short period of time he noticed that the novelty of NFTs was quickly wearing off, and that NFTs need utility if they are going to last long term. What if you could race your NFTs? And the idea for Riot Racers was born.

[CryptoWhips](https://opensea.io/collection/cryptowhips) cars will have automatic upgraded status and bonus upgrades. CryptoWhips cars #1-101 will be the Riot Racers Genesis Collection cars #1-101.
